10. Do you agree with the policy the U.S. has with Russia currently? Do you feel we should be more adamantly insisting they take actions to promote a free society?

Well, I'd be lying if I said that I understood the US policy toward Russia. But the reality is that Russian society is very, VERY free. It is so free it often borders on anarchy. No, we should be promoting a little less freedom. We're still assuming Russia to be a land where freedom is repressed. It isn't. Far from it. Russia, and Siberia in particular, is a land where freedom is so profound that it can actually be oppressive. Russia, to become more Western, needs a stronger rule of law, which Putin seems intent on doing. We should send Russia half of our lawyers. We've certainly got plenty to spare. More practically, the best thing we can do, first and foremost, is to lead by example, and not be too arrogant to acknowledge others' success and learn from them. If we don't do that much, anything we do has marginal consequences at best.
